Max Gordon Johnston, 87, passed away on Monday, April 5, 2021, at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, NC.

A graveside service will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, April 8th, at Overlook Cemetery in Eden.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the graveside.  Mr. Johnston will lie in repose on Wednesday, 12 Noon to 5 PM, at Fair Funeral Home for those wishing to come by to pay their respects.

Born May 28, 1933 in Draper, NC, Max was the son of the late Henry Washington Johnston and Katherine Fain Johnston.  He was a US Air Force veteran and a retiree of E. I. Dupont in Martinsville.

He is survived by his daughters, Susan Hundley (Ricky) of Martinsville, VA and Julia Dollarhite (Kevin) of Stuart, VA; four grandchildren, Kimberly H. Clark of Ridgeway, VA, Mary Beth Morrison of Stuart, VA, Christopher B. Ramey of Ridgeway, VA and Logan C. Ramey of Hurlbert Field Air Force Base in  Florida; five great-grandchildren; along with his brother, Derwood Johnston of Richmond, VA.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Henry O’neil Johnston, Sr.
