Lorene Kirkman Farmer, 90, passed away Sunday evening, January 16, 2011 at Brian Center in Eden. A memorial service will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, January 19 at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. A native of Rockingham County, Mrs. Farmer was born October 6, 1920 in Spray, NC, daughter of the late Solomon Brady and Myrtle Overby Kirkman. She was a member of Osborne Baptist Church. Surviving is her son Gary MIchael Farmer and wife, Evelyn of Flora, IL; daughter, Celia F. McLean of Roanoke, VA; seven granddaughters; and six great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Floyd Farmer, along with several siblings. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service on Wednesday (1 - 2 PM) at Fair Funeral Home, and other times at the home of her granddaughter, Jordan Campbell, at 1435 E. Stadium Drive in Eden. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimers Associaton, 1305 Navaho Dr., Suite 101, Raleigh, NC 27609.
