Leonard Smith Fulcher, 87, of 819 Washington Street, passed away Sunday, January 16, 2011 in Florida. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, January 20 at Spray United Methodist Church. Burial to follow in Overlook Cemetery in Eden. Mr. Fulcher was born November 7, 1923 in Rockingham County, son of the late Herbert and Lillian Wimbish Fulcher. He was a retired US Navy veteran, Lieutenant Commander, serving his country for 28 years. Mr. Fulcher was also a pilot for a Washington, DC Travel Club for 12 years. Surviving is his wife, Jean Dievendorf Fulcher of the home; son, Leonard Fulcher, Jr. and wife, Giovanna of Glendale, AZ; granddaughter, Tabitha Katena; great-granddaughter, Taylor Fink; brother, Herbert Fulcher, Jr. of Eden; step-children, Doris Fitch of Bethlehem, PA, Kathyleen Davis and husband, Bill of Eden, Holly Windanka and husband, Kenneth of Rochester, NY, and Robert Fitch and wife, Mary of Greensboro, and daughter-in-law Annette Fulcher of Raleigh, NC; and eight step-grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Florence Via Fulcher and son, Edward F. Fulcher. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, 6 - 8 PM at Fair Funeral Home.
