John "Earnest" Walker, 86, of 116 Dillard Court in Eden, passed away Thursday evening, October 3, 2019, at Moses Cone Health Care in Greensboro.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 4 PM on Sunday, October 6, at Danview Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Fair Funeral Home from 3 - 3:45 PM on Sunday, before proceeding to the cemetery.
Mr. Walker was born October 11, 1932 in Draper, NC, to the late John Thomas Walker and Mae Massey Walker. He was a retiree of Fieldcrest Mills. Earnest was a loving husband to his wife of 68 years, Delores Walker. He was the best daddy ever and enjoyed fishing, computers, tinkering with things, woodworking, and being an all-around handyman.
He is survived by two daughters, Susan Musgrave and husband, Terry, of Lexington; Sarah Hosmer of South Boston, VA and ; four grandchildren, Alice Shumate, Johnathan Cassell, David Musgrave and wife, Rebekah and Deborah Hunt and husband, Todd; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother, Gary Lawrence Walker of Eden; and sister, Linda Axsom and husband, J. B. of Eden.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Wayne Dillard Walker, Ralph O. Walker and Robert Marshall Walker.
