Annie Louise Joyce Peters, 97, passed away Thursday night, December 16, 2010 at Morehead Memorial Hospital. A graveside service will be held at 1 PM on Monday, December 20 at Ridgeview Memorial Gardens followed by a memorial service at 2 PM at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. Mrs. Peters was born August 3, 1913 to a close knit family. Together they lived through two World Wars, The Great Depression, and whatever else came their way, and their family loyalty never wavered. Annie attended Spencer, VA schools and graduated from Spencer Penn High School. Shortly after graduating from high school in 1933, she moved to the Leaksville community and worked as a patter setter of oriental rugs at Fieldcrest Mills for over 50 years. During that time, she taught many others the art of rug pattern setting that she knew so well. When Annie moved to the Eden community, she transferred her membership to the First Baptist Church where she has been a loyal member and a participant in her Sunday School Class and WMU. She married Judge Herman L. Peters in 1946 and they made their home together in Eden until his death in 1977. Annie has had a host of friends in these 70-plus years in Eden and delighted in each of them. Her family is grateful for their care during the time of her ill health. Members of the First Baptist Church and the Brian Center are commended and thanked for their steadfast expressions of caring as well. Surviving are two nieces, Nancy Joyce Nash and Karen Joyce, both of Martinsville, VA; two nephews, Mark Joyce of Martinsville, VA, and Kevin C. Joyce of Houston; and sister-in-law, Mrs. Beatrice Joyce of Houston, TX. Annie's "children" were her nieces and nephews and will be remembered by them with much love. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Peters was preceded in death by her beloved parents James Garfield Joyce and Mary Taylor Joyce; three brothers, George A. Joyce, Andy Joyce and Dr. J. Daniel Joyce; and nephew, Bill Joyce. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 533 Greenwood Street, Eden, NC 27288 or a charity of the donor's choice. My sympathies to the family of Annie Peters. While I was not well acquainted with her, she and my late Aunt Thala Lashley were very close friends and I saw her from time to time at my Aunt's house when I would be in Eden. May God bless and comfort you in the death of Mrs. Peters. James Adkins, Selmer, TN

Annie will be greatly missed. For the passed three years I talked to Annie just about every day. I will miss all the stories and chats we had.15
