Lacy Brooks Chaney, 82, of 213 Laurell Drive, passed away Wednesday night, December 15, 2010 at Morehead Nursing Center. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, December 18, at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Burial will follow in Ridgeview Memorial Gardens. Mr. Chaney was born February 17, 1928 in Reidsville, son of the late R. L. and Nora Lane Moorefield Chaney. He was a US Navy veteran and a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Mr. Chaney was a retired US Postal worker. Surviving is his wife, Roberta Coon Chaney of the home; daughter, Cathy Bokoski of Eden; granddaughter, Stephanie Bokoski Pike of Eden; two great-grandchildren, Thomas and Kadalyn Pike; and sister, Mildred Soyars of Reidsville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Constance Chaney Simmons. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday (10 - 11 AM) at First Christian Church and other times at the residence. Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church ( Disciples of Christ), 211 N. Oakland Avenue, Eden, NC 27288. Roberta, I'm very sorry about Lacy, he was a great man. Loosing two loved ones so close together and at the holidays is horrible in one since but they get to celebrate Jesus' Birthday with him together for the first time, how amazing is that going to be! I will keep you in my prayers.
