Roger Dale Boardwine, 73, passed away early Wednesday morning, March 13, 2019, at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro.

 

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, March 16, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Ridge-View Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends Friday evening, 6 - 8 PM, at Fair Funeral Home.

 

Mr. Boardwine was born November 3, 1945 in Horsepasture, VA, to the late Elbert and Myrtle Murdock Boardwine.  He was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church and was the retired owner and operator of Roger's Tire Company.  Roger enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandson, Logan, at the car lot.

 

He is survived by his daughter, Abby Hensley and husband, Shane, of Eden;  grandson, Logan Hensley of Eden;  brother, Fletcher Boardwine and wife, Mildred, of Martinsville, VA;  sister, Imogene Eastridge and husband, Randy, of Axton, VA;  and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Compton Boardwine and his brother, Floyd Boardwine.

Abby, Shane and Logan I am so sorry for your loss and our families loss.Roger will be missed by many. He always had a sweet smile and never met a stranger. His kindness and thoughtfulness could not be measured. I will never forget all the great family times we had as kids at all the get together's at granny's. Abby, Chris and I had good role models growing up between Roger, Floyd and my daddy (Fletcher). They loved us and taught us to love. We all loved Roger and will miss him. I especially loved the times fishing with dad and Roger and Logan.

Abby, Shane and Logan, I am so sorry to hear about Roger. He was such a good friend to my Dad....I know they ate breakfast together about every morning until Daddy got sick and couldn’t get out and go. He was so kind to me after Daddy died and a such a delight to be around and I always enjoyed sitting and talking to him. I always enjoyed seeing him go up the road if I was out in the yard.....he ALWAYS had a smile on his face and it just brightened my day! He will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
