Othola Beatrice Hicks Thompson, 87, of 1034 Virginia St., Eden, passed away Friday evening December 10, 2010 at home. Funeral service will be held 2 pm Tuesday at Fair Funeral Home with entombment to follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Mrs. Thompson was born June 25, 1923 in Scott Co. TN. to the late Ambers and Florence Laxton Hicks. Mrs. Thompson was a co-owner of Thompson Skating Rink. She was a member of Riverview Presbyterian Church She was a member of Tops NC 486 Eden, Fairview Extenion Club, and Golden Age Club. Preceding her in death was her husband; Bill Thompson , two brothers and 3 sisters surviving her memory are her sons; Charles Thompson and wife Fleeta of Eden, Walter Thompson of Hawaii, daughter; Mary Sams of Eden and Karen Chilton of Greensboro , 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Family will receive friends on Monday evening from 7-9 pm at Fair Funeral Home and other times at her home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a Charity of the donors choice. Karen, and all the family. I was s sorry to hear about your mom. I spent many wonderful hours with ass of you as a teen-age. At the skating ring and the swimming pool. Oh! what fond memories! Then later in life at T.O.P.S. I will never forget that laugh. Your mom was always so full of life,she alway act like she felt good no matter what was going on.
