Virginia Alvis Dunn Nichols, age 94 of 2210 Cox Road, Ridgeway, VA. passed away Friday evening, January 18, 2019 at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem.

A funeral service will be held 11am, Monday, January 21, 2019 at Fair Funeral Home Chapel with burial to be held the following day at 11am, Tuesday, January 22, 2019 Roselawn Burial Park in Martinsville. The family will receive friends Sunday 5-7pm at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the home.

Mrs. Nichols was born May 13, 1924 in Ridgeway to the late Alvis and Pauline Boaz Dunn. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church and in her early years she was a legal secretary for a law firm in Martinsville.  Virginia enjoyed working with her flowers and was an animal lover especially cats.

Surviving are husband Samuel "Cody" Nichols of the home; daughter, Sharon  Nichols Tahirkheli and husband Mohammad of Fairfax, VA; son Michael Nichols of Northwood, NH; granddaughters, Shella Holmes (Robert) and Sylvia  Tahirkheli; great grandchildren, Tieran Holmes, Qiana Holmes and Phineas  Holmes; aunt, Inez Barker of Reidsville; numerous extended family.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time. Mrs. Nichols was a wonderful friend and good neighbor to my parents and family. I have many fond memories of Mrs Nichols from my childhood. Her kindness and thoughtful ways touched many lives.
