Leroy Smith, 80, of 4840 Price Rd. in Stoneville, passed away at his home Saturday morning, November 27th. There will be a funeral service held at Fair Funeral Home Chapel, Monday 2pm, with burial to follow in the Smith Family Cemetery behind the home. Mr. Smith was born May 19, 1930 in Rockingham County to the late Willie Harvey and Callie Biggs Smith. He was a member of First Assembly of God in Eden for many years. He retired from Burlington Industries after over 30 years of service, and continued to work in his retirement for 20 more years as a security guard for Mid State Security. Leroy Smith is survived by his wife Mary Ellen Smith of the home, one daughter Deborah Shreve and husband Jeff of Stoneville, one son Leroy Randy Smith of Stoneville, two brothers James Smith and wife Estelle of Sandy Level, VA, Alvin "Possum" Ray Smith of Stoneville, six grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and two neices. The family would also like to extend a special thanks to Beth, Pat and Stephanie of Rockingham County Hospice. The visitation will be held Sunday evening 7 until 9pm at Fair Funeral Home, and at other times at the home in Stoneville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Rockingham County; 2150 NC 65, Wentworth, NC 27320.
