Sanford Lee Smith, 80, of 701 Dacur Street, Eden, passed away Sunday morning November 21, 2010 at Morehead Memorial Hospital. Funeral service will be held Wednesday 2 p.m. at Kings Highway Christian Church with burial to follow at Ridgeview Memorial Gardens. Sanford was born July 7, 1930 to the late John and Mary Dickerson Smith. He was U.S. Marine Veteran and member and past Deacon of Kings Highway Christian Church. Sanford was retired from Henry County Plywood after 50 years of service. Survivoring his memory is his wife; Jewel Younger Smith of the home, sons; Jesse of Pleasant Garden and Tim of Charlotte, 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, numerous neices and nephews. Family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7-9 pm at Kings Hwy Christian Church and other times at the home. My thoughts and prayer go out to the family. I have known all the family since I was a little girl. My daddy used to bring me to your house and I would play with your children. I just saw Sam the other day at Walmart and he was his friendly self. Asking about my family as usual. I always made it a point to speak to him and Jewel.
