Jo S. Patterson, age 86, passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at her home. A private family service will be held at Overlook Cemetery in Eden, NC Mrs. Patterson was born December 29, 1922 in Cielo, NC. She was the youngest child of Horace and Mabel Shuford. While attending Mitchell College, she married her devoted husband of 49 years, Aubrey Harold Patterson (Pat). He preceded her in death in 1990. She dedicated her life to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She enjoyed cooking, reading, gardening, playing bridge and travelling with Pat. She loved to smile and be joyful in life. Mrs. Patterson is survived by her daughters, Carol Burd and husband, Harvey and Jane Patterson, all of Greensboro. She is also survived by grandson, Bill Burd and wife, Leslie of Greensboro; granddaughter, Beth Durham and husband, Kevin of Apex; and six beloved great-grandchildren, Isabella Burd, Hayes Burd, Erin Durham, Emma Durham, Grace Durham, and Peter Durham. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM at the Patterson residence in Forest Oaks on Friday evening, December 18, 2009. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro at 2500 Summit Avenue, Greensboro, 27405, or to The American Cancer Society, 4A Oak Branch Drive, Greensboro, NC 27407-2145.
