Roma Ann Hyler, 60, passed away Tuesday evening, September 7, 2010 at Kindred Hospital in Greensboro. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Friday, September 10, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in Eden. A native of Rockingham County, Ms. Hyler was born August 27, 1950, daughter of Frances Gilley Hopper and the late James Carl Hyler. She was a member of Tri-City Baptist Church. Surviving are her three daughters, Amber Williams of Eden, Rosalyn Elliott of Danville, VA, and Robin Wood of Greensboro; mother, Frances Gilley Hopper of Eden; three grandchildren, Brian McCloskey, Victoria Reynolds, and Lathan Bondurant; sisters, Teresa Lallathin and Cynthia "Sudy" Hale, both of Kernersville; brother, Ronald Griffin of Mt. Zion, IL; cousin, Connie Gilley of Eden; and her close friend, Genny Mabry of Eden. The family will receive friends Thursday evening, 7 - 9 PM at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the home of her mother, 230 E. Harris Place, Apt. 124 in Eden. I just saw this on the internet. To the family, I am so sorry for your loss. I had college classes at RCC with Roma. She was a good friend, always willing to help, always concerned for her family, always a lot of fun, and very couragous in dealing with the challenges that she was facing. I had lost touch with Roma over the last few years, but I thought of her often. We shared a lot of laughs at RCC. I am better for having known her. My thoughts and prayers will be with you.
