Donald "Dink" Ray Overby, 64, of 259 Berry Hill Bridge Road, passed away Tuesday morning, August 17, 2010 at his home. A graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, August 20 at Danview Cemetery in Eden, NC. Mr. Overby was born December 3, 1945 in Rockingham County, son of the late John Franklin and Clara Williams Overby. He was a veteran of the US Air Force, having served during the Vietnam War. Mr. Overby retired in 2004 from Duffie Graphics. Surviving is his wife of 42 years, Connie Steele Overby of the home; sister, Mary Staley of Eden; half-sisters, Lorene Hartis of Fieldale, VA and Carolyn Holloway of San Antonio, TX; half-brothers, Buddy Overby of Eden and Bobby Rakes of McLean, VA; and eight loving sisters-in-laws. In addition to his parents, Mr. Overby was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Ray Overby; half sister, Dawn Jones; and half brothers, Wayne Overby, Jack Rakes and O'dell Rakes. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Rockingham County, PO Box 281, Wentworth, NC 27375. The family will receive friends Thursday evening 7 - 8:30 PM at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Online condolences may be offered to the Overby family at www.fairfuneralhome.com

Connie i was very sadden to hear of dinks passing.i know we all go back a long way from the good ole vanier graphic days and all the fun we had like the time dink took me to my first drag race at rockingham.it was a blast.Connie you will be in my prayers.Lee Woods and family.

Sorry for your loss I worked with Dink several years ago and was around him in Draper my late teenage years. He was a nice fellow.I know he will be missed.
