Lewis "Edward" Kidd, Sr. age 85 of 5753 Axton Road, passed away on Saturday May 15, 2010 at Morehead Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held 11 am Wednesday at Fair Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Overlook Cemetery. Edward was born March 11, 1925 in Henry County, Va. to the late Robert Fulton Kidd and Hester Wilson Kidd. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and a member of Lone Oak Baptist Church in Axton. Mr. Kidd was a past member of the Axton Lions Club and the Martinsville Moose Lodge and was member of the Axton Fire Dept. He was the Dog Warden for Henry County and worked as a security guard for the ESPN at Martinsville Speedway. Surviving are his wife; Emily Neal Whitfield Kidd of the home, son; Lewis E. Kidd, Jr. of Axton, brothers; Otis Kidd and wife Fern of Martinsville, Stokes Kidd of Martinsville , and Wesley Kidd and wife Martha of Axton, sisters; Lorine Gilley of Martinsville, Betty Ruth Nichols and Marie Parker both of Collinsville and Doris Moore of Axton. He was preceded in death along with his parents, brother; Robert Fulton Kidd, Jr. and sister; Erva Kidd Webb. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 6-8 pm at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the home. I am so sorry for your loss. Ed and I met when I worked at the Clerks Office with his sister Marie Parker. Marie and I are good friends, and Ed fell right along in there to be a good friend also.
