Marjorie Esabelle Kirkman Owens, 95, of 104 Stephens Street, passed away Sunday, April 18, 2010 at Morehead Memorial Hospital. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, April 20, at Osborne Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. A native of Rockingham County, Mrs. Owens was born February 8, 1915, daughter of the late Salmon Grady and Myrtle Overby Kirkman. She was a member of Osborne Baptist Church and a retiree of Morehead Mills. Surviving are her daughters, Fannie Aliff and husband, Jerry of Bassett, VA, Marie Yost and husband, Ken of Eden, and Phyllis Gibson and husband, Dan, also of Eden; sons, Donnie Owens and wife, Barbara of Eden, and George Owens and wife, Tracy of Springfield, IL; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Lorene Farmer of Eden. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by daughter, Jean Lemons; son, Steve Owens; step-sons, Sonny and Lawrence Owens; three sisters; and two brothers. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service (1 - 2 pm) at Osborne Baptist Church. Memorial donations may be made to Osborne Baptist Church, 326 E. Stadium Dr., Eden, NC 27288. Phyllis & Danny, I was so sorry to read about the passing of Mrs. Owens. I know what it is like to lose a parent, especially one as close as she was to the both of you. Now she is in God's hands and all suffering is past. Phyllis, I know you feel as if you have lost your best friend but it does get easier over time. Always remember the good times. Fannie...............I always go down Short Spring Street and look at our old homes when I am in Spray. Your Mom was so pretty and we all loved her so much when we were kids.............. She was a wonderful lady. Love to all..............Barb
