Edith Westbrook Swinney, 80, of 1227 Norman Court in Eden, went to be with Jesus Wednesday night, August 14, 2013, at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro.
A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, August 17, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Swinney was born November 12, 1932 in Spray, NC, daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Nance Westbrook. She was a former member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and attended Mt. Hermon Baptist Church in Reidsville. Edith was a special, wonderful, loving and giving person, with a huge heart. She was loved and will be missed by all.
She is survived by her sister, Lois Westbrook Eanes of Greensboro and numerous nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her very special friend, Jimmy Voss and her "adopted daughter", Helen Overby.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband, Frank Swinney; brothers, Lloyd, Paul, Frank and Gorris Westbrook; and sisters, Shirley Westbrook and Daisy Parrish.
The family will receive friends Saturday, 12 noon to 2 pm, prior to the service beginning at 2pm.

We are so sorry to hear about the passing of Edith. We did not know her very well but enjoyed going to church with her and talking with her. She was a very sweet lady and always had a smile for everyone. Our prayers are with Jimmy and her family.
