Ethel Mae Alexander Lemons, 87, passed peacefully Tuesday afternoon on February 9, 2021, at Safe Haven Home with her daughter’s by her side.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Sunday, February 14, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Ridgeview Memorial Gardens.  She will lie in repose on Saturday from 12 Noon to 6 PM at Fair Funeral Home for those wishing to come by to pay their respects.

Born October 14, 1933 in Ronda, NC, Ethel was the daughter of the late William Lytle Alexander and Mary Truitt Alexander.  She was a graduate of Leaksville High School and a retiree of Rockingham County School System where she worked as a bus driver.  Ethel was previously employed by E. I. DuPont, Inc.  She enjoyed gardening, camping in her motor home, playing cards with friends and spending time with her family.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her two daughters, Sherry Lemons Aheron (Keith) and Robin Lemons Flippen (Eddie); three grandchildren, Mark Samuel Martin (Crystal), Marshall Lee Flippen and Kelsi Aheron Citty (Robbie); great-grandson, Shane Matthew Martin; two great-granddaughters, Laney Nicole Chaney and Emma Lynn Chaney; numerous nieces, nephews and other family members; along with two special cousins, Brenda and Carol.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Zendale P. Lemons; brother, Ralph Alexander; and sisters, Vena Akers, Mabel Hill and Pauline “Polly” Cochran.

The family would like to offer their appreciation to Safe Haven Care Home for their loving care and support, especially Cassandra and Jessie.
