Garnetta Lucille Hankins Turner, 98, passed away Monday evening, January 4, 2021.

A graveside service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, January 9, at Overlook Cemetery.  She will lie-in-repose on Friday afternoon from 12 Noon to 6 PM at Fair Funeral Home.

Born November 19, 1922 in Rockingham County, NC, Garnetta was the daughter of the late William Charleston Hankins and Elizabeth Brumbeloe Hankins.  She attended Leaksville High School was a member of Providence Baptist Church in Stoneville.  Garnetta worked for Karastan Rug Mill for 20 years.

She is survived by her two daughters, Martha Turner Patterson and husband, Tom of Stoneville and Susan Annette Turner of Eden; one grandchild, Dawn Patterson Cockrell and husband, Andy of Kenly; two great-grandchildren, Valerie Dawn Stewart and Alayna Grace Cockrell, both of Kenly; numerous loving nieces and nephews; along with Diane Hankins of Greensboro, who doted on Garnetta and loved her like a second mother.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley Jeff Turner; her daughter, Vicky Edmonia Turner; and her 10 siblings, Halda H. Fair, Hilda H. Smith, Rebecca H. Barbour, Julius “Brother” Hankins, Mary H. Chilton, Katherine “Tootsie” H. Greenquist, Thomas “Dink” Hankins, Nancy Hankins, Sarah H. Wood, and Donald “Hunky” Hankins.

The family would like to offer their sincere thanks for the loving care that Garnetta received from Kathy Petty and her special friends at North Pointe of Mayodan.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to North Pointe of Mayodan, Recreation Fund, 6970 Hwy 135, Mayodan, NC 27027 or to Drive 4 Animal Shelter, PO Box 56, Reidsville, NC 27323.

Mrs Turner was such a sweet lady. I would always talk to her when visiting my mom at North Point. I will miss seeing her. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.
