Lonnie Gray Clark, Sr., age 75, formerly of Eden, NC, and more recently of Charlotte, passed away on Friday January 1, 2021, at Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte, NC.

A graveside service will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, January 7, 2021, at Ridgeview Memorial Gardens in Eden, with Dr. Ted Dougherty and Dr. Russ Dean officiating. He will lie in repose on Thursday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The service will be live streamed on Fair Funeral Home Facebook page for those unable to attend.

Lonnie was born January 29, 1945, in Leaksville, NC, to the late Elvie Gray Clark and Bessie Gauldin Clark.  He was a graduate of Morehead High School class of 1963,  He retired from E. I. DuPont in Martinsville, Virginia from the Chemical Lab department.   Lonnie also was a certified EMT and Firefighter for E.I. DuPont.  He later worked at the Rockingham County School System.  Lonnie was a member at the First Baptist Church in Eden and most recently attending Park Road Baptist Church in Charlotte. He enjoyed washing his car and making Brunswick stew with his son Gray. Lonnie was an avid Carolina sports fan and NASCAR fan.

He was preceded in death by his son, Chadwick Sterling Clark; sister, Nadine Clark Woodson and brother, William Larry Clark.

Surviving is wife of 53 years, Betty Crutchfield Clark of Charlotte; son, Lonnie Gray Clark, Jr. and wife Elisa Dougherty Clark of Charlotte; granddaughters, Cathryn Virginia Clark, Elisabeth Gray Clark of Charlotte and  Kately Grayce Clark of Summerfield, NC.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Park Road Baptist Church at 3900 Park Road, Charlotte, NC 28209 (704-523-5717).

So sorry about Lonnie. I have so many good memories of playing with Lonnie and Larry, roaming the hills, woods, playing in the creek and playing ball. We still call their home place "The Clark House". May God give you comfort and peace.
