Dennis “Wayne” McCollum, 78, passed away Tuesday night, March 31, 2020 at Hospice Home of Rockingham County in Reidsville.

*****PLEASE NOTE: A GRAVESIDE SERVICE will be held at 2 PM on Friday, April 3, at OVERLOOK CEMETERY. Due to pandemic restrictions, NO MORE THAN 10 PEOPLE MAY ATTEND. ***For those that are unable to be here for the service, it will be live-streamed on the Fair Funeral Home Facebook page.*** There will be no formal visitation. However, Wayne will lie in state at Fair Funeral Home on Thursday afternoon from 3 - 6 PM and prior to the service on Friday.

A native of Rockingham County, Wayne was born November 17, 1941 in Eden, NC to the late Paul James McCollum and Addie Foster McCollum. He was a US Air Force veteran and a retiree of Pillowtex.

He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Susan Overby McCollum of the home; two sons, Mike and Robert Holland; daughter, Lauren Wimmer of Greensboro; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Roxie Bray of Reidsville; brother, Tommy McCollum (Evelina) of Wilmington; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven siblings, Virginia Donahue, Jack Rorer, June Webb, Mary Louise Atwood, Nola Minter, Phillip McCollum, and Kenny McCollum; and two sons, Steve and Ricky Holland.

Wayne and I have been friends since we were babies. Tommy and Roxie and Susan, I am so sorry to hear about Wayne's passing.
