Robert "Bobby" James Dodson, Sr., 87, passed away Wednesday evening, May 15, 2019, at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.

A memorial service will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, May 19, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel with military honors being performed by the Rockingham County Veteran's Honor Guard and the US Army. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 5 - 7 PM at Fair Funeral Home.

Bobby was born May 28, 1931 in Rockingham County, NC, to the late Edgar Lee Dodson and Mazie Kimball Dodson. He was a US Army Korean Conflict veteran and a retiree of Sprint after 39+ years of service.

He is survived by his five children, Pam and Kenny Prater of Palm Coast, FL, Jamey Dodson and Beth of Martinsville, VA, Derek Lee Dodson and Sarah of Knoxville, TN, Bryan Todd Dodson and Tracy of Eden, and Christopher Ryan Dodson and Denise of Eden; 12 grandchildren; five great- grandchildren; former wife and mother of his children, Virginia Phillips Dodson; and special friend, Lucille Robertson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Carlene Cassidy.
