William "Billy" Arthur Burroughs, age 82 passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at Beacon Place of Greensboro after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Having loved and treasured his family, Billy made many selfless sacrifices to provide for them. He enjoyed animals, NASCAR, football, basketball, music and old movies. Billy was faithful in supporting his church of choice, Faithway Baptist in Greensboro.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents and most recently by his son Jeffrey William Burroughs of Greensboro.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Gloria Handy Burroughs of the home; daughter, Wendy Dawn Burroughts of McLeansville; granddaughter, Nicole Johnson and husband Mark of Alaska; grandson, Rusty Burroughs of Midland; sister-in-law, Nancy Clark of Eden; grand-dog, Abbie Mae; and numerous cousins in Virginia, North Carolina and Arizona.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Greensboro for the superior in-home care Billy received and for the exceptional support of Beacon Place while he was there.

In lieu of flowers, the family desires donations to be made to Hospice of Greensboro / Beacon Place in Billy's memory.

Dear Gloria and Wendy, So sorry for your loss of Billy. He and I went to school together in Leaksville (Eden) for many years graduating from Tri City High in 1955. I remember him very well but would never imagine him to grow a beard. He looks great. You can see him again, you just have to go where he is now. Gloria you went to school with my wife Joan Ann Covert. She remembers you. God be with you in this hour of your life. He shall wipe away every tear.
