Roger Wallace Sheckells, 77, of 248 Laurel Drive in Eden, passed away Thursday, February, 14, 2019, at his home.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mr. Sheckells was born December 5, 1941 in Eden, NC, to the late Cabbott Sheckells and Sally Duncan Sheckells.  He was of the Episcopalian faith.  Roger worked as a butcher for many years and was also a professional drummer.  He enjoyed bass fishing, collecting cars, watching drag racing, as well as NASCAR, and loved spending time on or near water.

He is survived by his daughters, Krystal Sheckells Powell of Williamsburg, VA and Misty Sheckells Hiniker (Michael) of Eden;  five grandchildren, Brandon Shawn Stevens of Reidsville, Christopher Ray Powell of Stoneville,, Nicholas O'Ryan Dillard of Eden, Dustin Rodgers Stewart  (Holly) of New Orleans, and Summer Dawn Stewart of Eden;  2 great-grandchildren, Abigail and Emilyn Powell;  sisters, Nancy Olsweski of Ohio and Obelia "Lili" Weaver of Georgia;  and special daughters, Sophia Surree' Davis and Hilda Louise Colson, both of Eden.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Hall Sheckells;  son, Roger Bryan Sheckells;  and 10 siblings.
