Bobby Aldean Shelton, age 85 passed away Saturday evening, January 19, 2019 at Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro, North Carolina. 

A funeral service will be held at 2pm on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at Fair Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Lemuel Hardison officiating, with burial to follow in Reidlawn Cemetery.  Military Rites will be performed by the Navy Honor Guard and the Rockingham County Veteran’s Honor Guard.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service (1 -2 pm) and following the burial the family will gather and fellowship at the Morehead – Fair House, adjacent to Fair Funeral Home.

Mr. Shelton was born in Stokes County on April 23, 1933 to the late Percy William Shelton and Gladys Oakley Shelton.  After graduating high school, Bobby served his county proudly in the United States Navy and later in life, he was a member of the Rockingham County Veteran’s Honor Guard.  He worked for Flowers Bakery as a route salesman.  He was a volunteer fireman for 17 years for the Bethany Volunteer Fire Department.  Bobby met his soul mate, Doris, and they married on February 8, 1995 and remained soul mates for 23 years until that day on January 19, 2019, his Heavenly Father called him home.  Bobby was a man of God and a faithful member of Pisgah United Methodist Church in Asheboro, NC.  He will be missed for his kind heart and gentle spirit that surrounded him and would spread infectiously to everyone that came in contact with him.

Bobby is survived by his beloved wife, Doris McIntosh Shelton of the home; two step-children, Billy R. Miller and wife, Krystal of Reidsville, NC and Linda M. Jackson and husband, Dean of Walnut Cove, NC; five sisters, Clara Ward, Thelma Correll, Louise Gillie and husband, Doug, Ann Ballard and Priscilla Ewalt and husband, Bob; five step-grandchildren; Joshua, Corey, Haley, Heidi and Camden; 11 nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his two brothers, Tommy Shelton and Percy “P.J.” Shelton and one nephew.

Memorial contributions may be made to Randolph Hospice House, 446 Vision Drive, Asheboro, NC  27203.

I only recently learned of Bobby's passing. I am so sorry for your loss and the hole it leaves in your life. I remember you both when you lived next door to Bob and I on NC 135. Those were good times for both of us.
