Thomas Luther Long, Jr., 90, of 1281 Rhodes Road in Eden, passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2019, at UNC-Rockingham Health Care in Eden.

A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, January 6, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Ridgeview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday evening, 6 - 8 PM, at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the home of Millie Branch 232 Ward Rd. Eden.

Mr. Long was born March 16, 1928 in Rockingham County, NC, to the late Thomas Luther Long, Sr. and Etta Grant Long. He was a retiree of Fieldcrest Mills after 51 years of service. He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed farming.

He is survived by his six sons, Mike Long, Gary Long (Mary), Ricky Long (Tammy), Roger Long (Morgan), Ronnie Long (Theresa) and Jacob Long (Anna), all of Eden; four daughters, Millie Branch (Tommy) of Eden, Marie Fain (Gary) of Ridgeway, VA, Joy Long of Eden, and Terri Scott (Donnie) of Ridgeway, VA; 11 grandchildren, Tommy Jr. and Kevin Branch, Corey Long, Eric Fain, Rick and Dustin Long, Mallory Long, Jacob and Ali Long, Leanna and Liam Long; five great-grandchildren, Eli and Jadyn Long, Payton and Levi Branch and Hunter Branch; and two brothers, Bobby Long of Ruffin and Carlon Long of Eden.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Robert, Jessie, David, and Garland Long and two sisters, Ruth Cole and Dorothy Mizer.

The family would like to offer special thanks to Elizabeth Long and the staff of UNC-Rockingham Nursing and Rehab Center, for their loving care and support.
