John Hardy Stovall, 86, of 521 Ford Street in Eden, passed away Sunday afternoon, November 18, 2018, at his home.

A graveside service will be held at 3 PM on Wednesday, November 21, at Dan View Cemetery.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the graveside and other times at the residence.

Mr. Stovall was born September 3, 1932 in Draper, NC, to the late William and Mabel Woods Stovall.  He was a US Army veteran and a retiree of Fieldcrest Mills following 20 years of service with the company.  John was known for his generous heart and his willingness to help anyone in need.  He considered himself a "Draper Boy", born and bred.   He was owner and operator of Stovall Enterprises, an auto repair business and a farmer. John was an avid and passionate advocate of Dan View Cemetery and worked diligently to maintain and raise funds for the cemetery.

He is survived by his daughter, Karen Stovall Powell and husband, Kenneth R. Scott;  special son, David Johnson and wife, Karen;  and adored and beloved grandson, Jon Richard Powell.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Ardell Saul Stovall;  son-in-law, Richard "Scott" Powell and sister, Clemence Clark.

The family would like to express deep appreciation to Dr. Xaje Hasanaj for his years of compassionate and loving care.  Also, we are thankful for the care shown toward "Pop" by Hospice of Rockingham County and the Bayada staff.

Memorial contributions would be greatly appreciated for Dan View Cemetery and it would give John immense joy to know a donation was made to Dan View for a candle in memory or honor of a loved one to be lit on Christmas Eve and Easter.  For more information please contact Bev Coleman, John's family or PO Box 594, Eden, NC  27289.

The former things have passed away.” If you would like to learn more about this promise of seeing our loved ones again please feel free to write to me at amandamartin1444@gmail.com. https://www.jw.org/finder?wtlocale=E&issue=2018-11&pub=g18&srcid=share
