Virginia “MeMaw” Dare Lemons McDonald, age 80, of 528 Ashley Loop Road in Eden when home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Tuesday afternoon, October 30, 2018 at Moses Cone Hospital.

A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Fair Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow the service in Mt. Hermon Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service (11 – 12 noon) and other times at the residence, Friday evening from 7 – 9 PM. 

Mrs. McDonald was born on August 19, 1938 in Henry County, VA to the late Thomas Lemons and Lucy Gauldin Lemons.  She was a member of First Wesleyan Church in Eden.  Virginia retired from Miller Brewery Company with 21 years of loyal service.  She had a true love of the land, because Virginia loved to live on the McDonald farm and feeding the birds.  She loved living life to the fullest but most of all she loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Virginia will be greatly missed by all that knew her vivid and kind heart.

Left to cherish her memory are her survivors, her beloved husband, John Lester McDonald of the home; her two daughters, Rhonda Ratliff Smith of Eden and Tamara Ratliff Garcia of Wentworth; her two grandchildren, Krista Smith-Lovelace and husband, Tyler and Clemmon Smith and wife, Ashley all of Reidsville; great-grandchildren, Jacob,  Chaely, Makenzi, Kendall, Makenna, Jaxx, and Lukas.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Edgar, Richard, Albert and Marvin Lemons and her sisters, Dorothy L. Richardson and Mildred L. Griffin; and her grandson, Charlie Banks Busick.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Virginia McDonald’s memory to either, The Rockingham County Animal Shelter; 250 Cherokee Camp Rd, Reidsville, NC 27320 or Mt. Hermon Baptist Church; 1551 Ashley Loop Road, Reidsville, NC  27320; Attention Cemetery Fund.
