Helen Hutson McBride, 86, passed away early Monday morning, July 30, 2018, at Brian Center in Eden.

A graveside service will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, August 1, at Danview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 - 1:45 PM at Fair Funeral Home before proceeding to the cemetery for the service.

Helen was born October 1, 1931 in Rockingham County, NC, to the late Henry and Gracie Chilton Hutson. She was a retiree of Morehead Memorial Hospital.

She is survived by her four sisters, Linda Marion, Shirley Compton, Gladys Pulliam, all of Eden and Ossie McGee of San Diego, CA.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Nolan McBride and brothers, Buddy, Pete, Tommy and Claude Hutson.

Aunt Helen will be truly missed and I loved her very much. Helen always called me "Penny weeny" and Uncle Bro called me "Nickel". I spent many nights with Helen while Uncle Bro was at work and she was one of the best cook I've known. Loved her baked ham and one of my fondest moments was finally getting to Helen and Bro's house to get my bag of Halloween candy. Even today I wear pajamas instead of a gown because of Aunt Helen - in the early mornings before she would go to work she would take me to the Railroad Cafe to get her two newspapers then drop me off at Granny Hutson's to wait on the school bus. This was our routine from the time I was in Intermediate School throughout high school. I will truly miss her. With love always,
