Dennis Paul Carter, Sr., 70, of 133 Nation Drive in Ruffin, passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at his home.

A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, June 9, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel.  The family will receive friends Friday evening, 6 - 8 pm, at Fair Funeral Home.

Dennis was born February 3, 1948 in Rockingham County, NC, to the late Eugene Paul Carter and Marie Williams Carter Haymore.  He was a retired truck driver with General Electric.  Dennis enjoyed fishing, camping, and NASCAR and he loved his family.

He is survived by wife, Stephanie Lawson Carter of Ruffin;  daughter, Angela Carter of Eden;  son, Dennis Paul Carter, Jr. of the home;  five grandchildren, Chris Cochran, LeAnne Apple, Austin Carter, Dustin Carter, and Chloe Carter;  three great-grandchildren, Hunter and Ivey Cochran and Ayden Hancock;  sister, Joyce Adams;  niece, Amber Chilton;  and his canine companions, "Sweet Pea" and "Pup Pup".

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his former wife, Sandy Scott Carter and his son, Rodney Carter.
