Obituary For Doris Elizabeth Curry
May 13, 1932 - April 8, 2013


Doris Elizabeth Curry, our mama, also known as "Nanny Doodle", went to be with her Lord on Monday, April 8, 2013.

A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, April 11, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Reidsville.

She was a wonderful mama to all her children and a wonderful Nanny Doodle to all her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She loved all her family and everyone she came to know. Mama cared for many children in the course of her life, other than her own. She was a retired farmer, worked at Stoneville Furniture and was a homemaker.

Surviving are her children, Eunice Murray and husband, Leon, Evon Wilson and husband, Eugene, Irene Curry, Elmer Curry, Cindy Porterfield and husband, Kenneth, Sr., and Janine Curry; ten grandchildren, Arlene Wade and husband Jim, Jamey Murray and wife Leanne, Billy Byrd, Barry Byrd and wife Marie, Bobby Byrd, Devin Wilson and wife Pam, Chasity Powell and husband Chris, Dusty Curry, John Odell, Jr., Brandon Odell and wife Kay; 19 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren; sister, Vera Curry; brother, Jackie Vernon; three half-sisters, Vernita Dickerson, Wanda Saunders, and Patsy Sheetz; and four half-brothers, Lester, Avery, Kenneth and Milton Gauldin, all of Eden. A special thanks to her pastor, Chris Huffstetler; also her caregiver, Irene Bigelow, Dr. Vyas, Dr. "Jake" Yacoub and staff on the 2900 Hall at Moses Cone Hospital.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Roy Elmer Curry, Sr.; and her brothers, Curtis, Otis, and Junior Gauldin.

We, her family, would like to thank everyone for all the prayers, love and support.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening, 6 - 8 PM at Fair Funeral Home.
