Obituary For Myra Bell Brown Shelton
August 26, 1925 - December 26, 2012


Myra Bell Brown Shelton, 87, of 519 Franklin Drive, went home to be with her Heavenly Father after a valiant fight with a long-term illness, early Wednesday morning, December 26, 2012, at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, December 29, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Ridgeview Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Shelton was born August 26, 1925 in Spray, NC, daughter of the late John Baxter and Hallie Roberts Brown. She was a 1943 graduate of Leaksville High School, and she later took several college classes in nursing. Mrs. Shelton was also a former cafeteria employee with the Eden City School system. In addition, she was a daycare employee at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). She was a longtime democratic judge for the Rockingham County Board of Elections and worked the polls during voting. She was also a faithful member of the Eden Home Extension Club. Mrs. Shelton was a former member of Riverview Presbyterian Church where she enjoyed the Women's Circle, and she was a recent member of First Presbyterian Church. She will be remembered as a wonderful homemaker, loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her son, Tim Shelton of the home; daughters, Judy Shelton of Greensboro, Pam Armstrong and husband, Mike of Eden and Shelia Thompson and husband, Jerry of Greensboro; and two grandchildren, Michael Armstrong, II of Eden and Chad Thompson of Augusta, GA.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Matthew Shelton; sister, Betty Brown Edwards and brother, Dick Brown.

The family will receive friends Friday evening, 6 - 8 PM, at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
