Obituary For Franklin "Pete" Roosevelt Curry



Franklin "Pete" Roosevelt Curry, 75, of Greensboro, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 after being in declining health since 2005. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, March 20 at Fair Funeral Home Chapel in Eden. Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery on Hwy 29 in Greensboro. Mr. Curry was born April 29, 1934 in Rockingham County, son of the late Arthur Thomas and Lillie Stratton Curry. He was a retiree of City of Greensboro having been an operator of heavy equipment. For 25+ years he had a booth at the Eden Flea Market and was known as "the book man". Mr. Curry was a man that truly enjoyed life. He loved playing golf and spent a lot of time at Monroeton Golf Course. Wednesday nights found him playing cards with his son Randy and spending time with Randy and his "favorite daughter-in-law", Sherri. It seemed he had special things he did with all of his family; beach trips with his daughter, Rhonda and her husband, Rusty; family get-togethers at his younger daughter, Jennifer's and her husband, David's home; enjoyed all the time spent with his wife, Shirley and her sister, Betsy and husband, Johnny; and visits from his sister, Wilma and his most recent visit with his brother-in-law, Wayne Finney. Surviving is his wife of 51 years, Shirley Finney Curry of the home; daughters, Rhonda Bunker and husband, Rusty of Thomasville and Jennifer Paschal and husband, David of Asheboro; son, Randy Curry and wife, Sherri of Kernersville; five grandchildren, Randi Lynn Curry, Taylor Ward, Paul Ward, Wyatt Paschal, and Rhiannon Curry; sisters, Wilma Jones, Margaret Young, and Treva Curry all of Eden; brother, William Curry of Reidsville; numerous special nieces and nephews; and special friend, Peggy Mullins. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers and six sisters. The family will receive friends Friday evening, 7 - 9 PM at Fair Funeral Home.
