Obituary For Norman Carter
January 10, 1930 - July 12, 2012


Norman Glenn Carter, age 82 of 3140 Settle Bridge Road, Stoneville, passed away on Thursday evening July 12, 2012 at the Brian Center in Yanceyville,NC. A funeral service will be held 12 o,clock noon Monday July 16th at Woodbine Baptist Church in Mayodan.

Norman was born January 10, 1930 in Leaksville, NC to the late Carl Houston Carter and Ollie Perdue Carter. He was known in the "New Leaksville" area by his nickname "Rooster". He attended Burton Grove Elementary School and Leaksville High School and decided to join the US Navy in 1948. Norman worked for Charles Tullouch at Five Forks Grocery, Meadow Dairies, and in 1962 went to work for Madison Throwing which later became Burlington Industries until his retirement and according to the people that worked for him , he was know as "the best supervisor they ever had"-- always treating everyone the same.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Richard Glenn Carter; his brothers, Carl Ray Carter and William Edgar Carter; two sisters, Nancy Jo Carter and Doris Carter; sister-in-law, Maggie Carter and brother-in-law, Calvin Zimmerman.

Surviving are wife, Donna Carter; daughter, Gwynne Kallam; son-in-law, Mark Kallam; grandsons, Richard and Houston Kallam all of Stoneville; sisters, Eunice Zimmerman and Sue Moretz both of Eden;brother, Artis and wife Nancy of Eden;sister-i-law, Judy Carter of Eden, numerous neices and nephews. Donnie and Vicky Farris have been loyal neighbors and family members who have been extremely genous in their support and willingness to help out when needed.

Visitation will be held on Sunday evening at Fair Funeral Home from 7 -9 pm and other times at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rockingham County Friendship Center, Hwy 770, Stoneville NC 27048.
