Obituary For Mike Reynolds
December 28, 1946 - June 1, 2012


Mike Reynolds, 65, of 327 Ford Street, Eden, NC died Friday, June 1, 2012 surrounded with love by his wife, daughter and son. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, June 7, Draper Christian Church. Burial will follow in Danview Cemetery. Mike's last battle was fought with honor and dignity, just as he lived his life. He was a 3 tour IUWG (Inshore Undersea Warfare Group) Vietman Veteran, and was awarded 2 Bronze Stars. He completed SERE Training (Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape) and was proud to be an American, who voluntarily served his country with Honor. Mike was an ASA (Amateur Softball Association), and NSA (National Softball Association) Umpire, officiating in numerous state and world softball tournaments. He loved softball and spent most of his life playing, watching or officiating the sport. He was an honest man who always stood up for what he believed in. Those that know Mike, knew he was a man of his word and loyal to his beliefs. Mike received numeorus commendations throughout his life. in 1999, he was awarded the first ever Heroism Award by the Eden Fire Department for saving the life of his neighbor. Mike believed if you saw someone in need, help out, especially if they could not help themselves. In 2000, he was awarded the NCDOC (NC Department of Corrections) Officer of the Year Award. Mike was a devoted husband and father. He married Linda Minter in 1968 and has spent the past 43 years as her husband and best friend. Mike loved his family. His children and grandchildren were the the world to him. He was predeceased by his mother, Pauline Navey Reynolds. He is survived by his wife, Linda of the home; daughter, Lisa Desmond and husband, Shay of Kernersville; son, Ryan Reynolds and wife, Tiara of Belews Creek, grandson, Cian Desmond, granddaughter, Clara Desmond, and grandson, James Reynolds; aunts, Corinne McBride of Eden and Anne Clark of Danville, VA; sisters-in-law, Donna Minter of Charleston, SC and Karen Lunsford of Eden; brother-in-law, Mike Minter of Eden; and father-in-law, Frank Minter of Eden.
