Obituary For Essie McCormick Gilley October 23, 1922 - May 27, 2012 Essie McCormick Gilley, 89, of 1102 Stadium Drive, passed peacefully to be with her Lord on Sunday evening, May 27, 2012 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. A graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, May 31, at Danview Cemetery. Mrs. Gilley was born October 23, 1922 in Luninburg County, Virginia, daughter of the late George E. and Nannie Bell Spencer McCormick. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by four daughters, Elaine Land and husband, Tony of Eden, Sandra Willoughby and husband, Claytor of Bedford, VA, Deloras Willoughby and husband, Ronnie of Eden and Glenda Gillie Silvers and husband, Raymond of Eden; four sons, Leroy Gilley and wife, Mary of Bladenboro, Bill Gilley and wife, Debra of English, IN, Sam Gilley and wife, Sandy of Chula Vista, CA, and Clyde Gilley, Jr. and wife, Sylvia of Mayodan; 65 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; and sister, Elsie Alderman of Eden. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Gilley, Sr. in 1998. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, 6 - 8 PM at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the home of the daughter, Elaine Land at 504 Round House Road in Eden.
