Obituary For Renate Fischer Smart July 26, 1928 - March 15, 2012 Renate Fischer Smart, 83, formerly of 1921 Mill Avenue in the Draper section, passed away Thursday, March 15, 2012 at Brian Center in Eden. A memorial service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, March 31st, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. Mrs. Smart was born July 26, 1928, in Lindenfals, Germany, daughter of the late Julius and Marie Fischer. She came to this country and North Carolina in 1948 and became a U.S. citizen in December of 1951. She is survived by her daughter, Teresa "Toot" Smart DeLuca of Eden; son, Phil Smart and wife, Joanie of Houston, TX; grandson, Gavin of Houston; granddaughter, Ashley Manning and husband, Kevin of Oklahoma City, OK; sister, Jutta Shelton of Eden; brother, Manfred Fischer and wife, Sybille of Bonn, Germany; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the love of her life for over 50 years, her husband, E. LeRoy Smart; and two brothers, Lothan and Joachin Fischer, both were of Lindenfals, Germany. There will be no formal visitation, however, the family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.
