Obituary For Warren Brewster Rorrer



Warren Brewster Rorrer, 90, of 608 Victor St. in Eden, NC went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 13, 2011. A funeral service will be held at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Eden Wednesday November 16th, 4pm with Rev. Michael J. Zumpf officiating, and Fair Funeral Home handling the arrangements. The burial will follow in Overlook Cemetery also in Eden. Mr. Rorrer was born May 26, 1921 in Big Sandy, WV to the late George Robert Rorrer and Hattie Wade Earles Rorrer. Mr. Rorrer was a faithful member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church on Morgan Rd. in Eden where he was baptized in 1944. He was also a Vestry member and Junior Warden at St. Luke's and received the honor of Father of The Year from the church in 1998. Mr. Rorrer also served his community as a charter member of the Spray Fire Dept. in which he volunteered for 34 years. A member of America's "Greatest Generation", Mr. Rorrer enlisted in the U.S. Army in July of 1944. He was ranked as Private First Class and served his country during WWII in Germany, Austria, and Czechoslovakia. He was honorably discharged from the US Army in June 1946. He also worked as a welder for Fieldcrest Mills from where he retired in 1986 after more than 40 years of service. Warren Brewster Rorrer was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great- grandfather, and friend. He was a devoted husband to his childhood love and wife of 69 years, Margaret May Cook Rorrer of the home. In addition to his wife, Mr. Rorrer is survived by sons James Brewster Rorrer and wife Peggy Rorrer of Eden and Larry Wade Rorrer and wife Kristie Rorrer of Eden. Other survivors include grandchildren Tammy Rorrer Long and husband Ricky Long of Eden, Jamie Rorrer and wife Jamie Rorrer of Kernersville, NC, Kim Rorrer Garrett and husband Mark Garrett of Eden, step granddaughter Cindy Bibee and husband Rocky Bibee of Eden, great- grandchildren Rick and Dustin Long, Anna and Aiden Rorrer, Colby and Kyndall Garrett, and step great-grandchildren Kristin Richardson and Isaac Bibee. He is also survived by long-time friend James Glidden, who has been a vital blessing to the family during Mr. Rorrer's declining health. Preceding him in death are his brother, Glen Rorrer, and sisters Shirley Taylor, Ona Gover and Earline Nelson. The family will receive friends 6 until 8pm Tuesday evening at Fair Funeral Home, and other times at the home.
