Obituary For Nell Leonard Lester



Nell Leonard Lester, 93, died March 7, 2011 at the Brian Center in Eden. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, March 9, at First Baptist Church on Greenwood Street in Eden. Interment will follow in Ridgeview Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Lester was born on September 28, 1917 in Lexington, NC to James and Mamie Leonard. She was one of seven children. Nell was a faithful member of First Baptist Church on Greenwood Street. She taught Sunday School for many years and loved serving the Lord. Nell and her sister, Zelma, owned and operated the Paristyle Beauty Shop on Washington Street in Leaksville for 64 years. All of their customers became close friends and they both worked until they were in their seventies. We are grateful for the 93 years that Nell lived. Her strength and love of God was an inspiration to a whole generation of family and friends. Surviving is her sister, Olgie Carne of Lexington; son-in-law, Wayne Tuggle; daughter-in-law, Connie Lester; seven grandsons, Cliff Lester III and wife, Jodi of Stoneville, Chris Lester and wife, Anna of Martinsville, VA, Justin Lester and wife, Amanda of St. Louis, MI, Jeff Lester II of Raleigh, Wayne Tuggle, II and wife, Heather of Greensboro, Jason Tuggle and wife, Heather of Eden, and Bradley Tuggle and wife, Rachel of Greensboro; 11 great-grandchildren, Carmen, Cliff and Danni Lester, Tristan, Bella and Noah Lester, Blair, Reece and Paige Tuggle, and Trey and Annadelle Tuggle. There are a number of surviving nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. Nell was married to Clifford Lester for 59 years and had three children, Cliff, Jr., Jeff and Jane, all who preceded her in death. There are also many special people who loved and helped with her care, Joy Wade, Lynda Burnette, Phyllis Gendron, Connie Lester, Ann Hawkins, Angela Johnson and the entire staff of the Brian Center. There will be no formal visitation, however, the family will greet visitors at The Farabee, 1301 W. Washington Street in Eden immediately following the burial.
