Obituary For Robert Roscoe Hodge



Robert Roscoe Hodge, 69, of 610 Spring Street, passed away early Friday morning, March 4, 2011 at Hospice Home of High Point. A funeral service will be held at 4 PM on Monday, March 7, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Hodge was born August 1, 1941 in Critz, VA, son of the late Curtis Samuel and Mary Susan Bowman Hodge. He was a member of Tri City Baptist Church and was a Mason. He retired from the maintenance department of the Rockingham County School System and also worked as a self-employed dynomite and demolition worker. In life he enjoyed farming, fishing and raising and training hunting dogs. Surviving are his five children, Penny Hodge of Mayodan, Betty Jean Gilley of Eden, Billy James Hodge of Eden, Robert Hodge, II of Eden, and Susan Hodge of Providence, NC; former wife and mother of his children, Linda Hutson Hodge-Marion also of Eden; four grandchildren, Dusty Michelle Gammon, James Matthew Gilley, Joshua Rhodes and his sister, Jessica Rhodes, and Booker John Henry Hodge; three great-grandchildren, Skylar, Dylan, and James Winn; four brothers, Tom, Roger and Bill Hodge, all of Eden, and James Hodge of Danville, VA; three sisters, Iris Setliff of Martinsville, VA, Velma Webb of Stoneville, and Mary Queen of Stokesdale. The family also includes Charlie Bullard, Mark Lefler, Shirley Compton, Dorothy McDaniel, Helen McBride, Gladys Pulliam, Carolyn Jones and Pat Hodge; and close personal friends, Benny Wood and wife, Linda and Harold Westmoreland and wife, Mabel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Carson Hodge; and sister, Pauline Reynolds. The family will receive friends Sunday evening, 6 - 8 pm at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the home of his daughter, 190 Cardwell Road in Mayodan.
