Obituary For Jessie Frances Price Cox



Jessie Frances Price Cox, 96, of Stoneville, NC, passed away Sunday morning, February 13, 2011 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem, NC. A celebration of her life service will be conducted by Reverend Tommy Albertson and Reverend Stan Dotson of Asheville at Providence Baptist Church on Eden Road, Stoneville, NC, at 2 PM on Wednesday, February 16. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Cox was born in Stoneville, to Bennie Francis Price and Anna Carter Price. She worked as a sewing machine operator for Eanes Manufacturing and Blue Bell of Stoneville until her retirement. She was a member of Providence Baptist Church where she taught young people for many years as well as older adult women. Mrs. Cox served in many other capacities in the church such as clerk and deacon but was known among church family and friends as a woman of prayer. She loved to quilt and crochet and generously shared these crafts with her friends and nursing home residents. Surviving is her daughter, Betty Jo Cox Wilkinson of Stoneville and step-granddaughters, Maynie Cox and Kristi Agee of Eden. She also has 2 step-grandchildren, Neil Wilkinson and Jenny Sewell of Georgia, Sherry Morrison of SC; two step-great-grandchildren, Adrianne Doyle and Derek Wilkinson of Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arthur "Buck" Cox; her step-son, Maynard Cox; infant son, Ken Carpenter Cox; and son-in-law, W. T. Wilkinson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Providence Baptist Church, 770 Eden Road, Stoneville, NC 27048 or to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. Visitation with the family will occur one hour prior to the service in the church sanctuary and in the Fellowship Hall following the graveside service. At other times, friends are welcome at the home of her daughter, Betty Jo Wilkinson at 195 Dogwood Road in Stoneville. Her daughter thanks her home nurse, Miranda Brim and all the other staffers of the Hospice and Palliative Care units in Walnut Cove and Wnston-Salem. Mrs. Cox also cherished her special friends, Bea Grogan, Barbara Mounce, Susie Elvin, June Talley, her niece, Vernita Turpin, and Happy. "Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.
