Obituary For Nancy Burris Younts
March 13, 1932 - January 30, 2020


Nancy Burris Younts, age 87 of Eden, NC went home to be with the Lord early Thursday morning, January 30, 2020, at UNC-Rockingham Health Care in Eden. 

A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, February 2, at First Baptist Church with Dr. Craig Bowman officiating.  Burial will follow in Ridgeview Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends Saturday evening, 6 - 8 PM at Fair Funeral Home.

Nancy was born March 13, 1932 in Albemarle, NC, to the late Clyde Walcey Burris and Fanny Lowder Burris.  She received her education at Leaksville High School and the University of North Carolina - Greensboro, formerly known as Women's College.  She was a substitute teacher at Holmes Junior High School.  Nancy was a long time member of the First Baptist Church in Eden.  She was very active in the community serving in the Leaksville Junior Woman's Club; the Leaksville Garden Club in which she served as president for two terms, 25 years apart; and Daughter's of the Confederacy.  She was an avid Bridge player, golfer, and cook.  Nancy wrote a cookbook of all the family's favorite recipes to encourage all the grandchildren and great-grandchildren to experience the wonderful dishes her family had grown up with and enjoyed for a lifetime.  She also loved traveling the world (visiting five continents over the years) and spending much of her time at her home in Garden City, SC.

She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Burton Wyatt Younts of the home;  daughter, Van Meeks and husband, Danny, of Eden;  son, Wyatt Younts and wife, Teresa, of Eden;  two sisters, Sarah Hayes and husband, Hugh of Sunset Beach and Becky Gentry and husband,Bill (deceased) of Madison;  brother, Butch Burris and wife, Suzie of Madison;  six grandchildren;  ten great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church 533 Greenwood Street, Eden, NC  27288.
