Obituary For Elaine Nance Kendrick



Elaine Nance Kendrick, 84 of 340 Billy Harris Street, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday afternoon, December 26, 2010 at Morehead Memorial Hospital. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, December 29, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. A private burial will follow. A native of Rockingham County, Mrs. Kendrick was born July 6, 1926, daughter of the late Wesley Ward and Jettie Clark Nance. She was a 60+ year member of Meadow View United Methodist Church where she served as the church pianist for many years, as well as a Sunday School teacher. She was also a member of Ladies Circle of Friends. Mrs. Kendrick was a retiree of Fieldcrest Mills, where she worked as a secretary with the Canteen Department. Surviving is her daughter Sharon K. Bateman and husband, Barry of Eden; three grandchildren Ashley Morgan and husband, Rodney of Eden, Chris Bateman and wife, Chanda of Dalton, GA, and David Carter of Georgia; and four great-grandchildren, Carley and Cameron Bateman, Caleb and Connor Morgan. Also surviving are four very special brothers-in-law, A.J., Roy, Dennis, and Larry Kendrick. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, C. L. Kendrick; son, Donnie; sisters, Gertrude and Madeline; an infant brother; sister-in-law, Laverne K. Warren; and brothers-in-law, Arthell, Melvin, Bill and Harold Kendrick. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service (1 - 2 PM) at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the residence. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in honor of her son-in-law, Barry, to the Western N.C. Alzheimers Assocation, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215.
