Obituary For Thomas Dillard Manuel
April 19, 1921 - October 23, 2018


Thomas Dillard Manuel, 97, of  Stoneville, passed away Tuesday morning, October 23, 2018, at Hospice Home of Rockingham County.

A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, October 25, at Matthews Chapel United Methodist Church with burial to follow in Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.  Military rites will be performed by the Rockingham County Veteran's Honor Guard and the US Army Honor Guard.  The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, 5 - 7 PM, at Matthews Chapel United Methodist Church.

Mr. Manuel was born April 19, 1921 in Price, NC to the late David and Virginia Bolt Manuel.  He was the last of the founding members of Matthews Chapel United Methodist Church where he was the "stew master".  Mr. Manuel was a World War II Army veteran and was a friend and neighbor to anyone needing help.

He is survived by two nieces, Shirley Shelton of Madison and Lola Ward of Martinsville, VA;  two grandchildren, Tommy Minter and Crystal Minter;  four great-grandchildren;  three great-great-grandchildren;  and a half sister, Betty M. Thacker.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Adina Walker Manuel;  step-son, Johnny Minter;  sister, Mabel Bryant;  and grandson, J. W. Minter.
