Obituary For Melvin Ray Warren
November 26, 1933 - October 4, 2018


Melvin “Mel” Ray Warren, 84 of Richmond Lane in Ruffin passed away early Wednesday morning, October 4, 2018 at UNC Rockingham Rehabilitation and Nursing Center of Eden.

A funeral service will be held at 2pm on Sunday, October 7, 2018 at Fair Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Overlook Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service (1 -2pm) at Fair Funeral Home Chapel and other times at 263 East Aiken Road in Eden.

Melvin was born on November 26, 1933 in Rockingham County to Pearl Warren Kennon and step-father, Roy Kennon.  He was of the Christian faith and a member of North Spray Christian Church.  Melvin graduated from Tri-City High School and then was a graduate of UNC Chapel Hill. After graduation he went to work for Saks Fifth Ave.  As he built his career as a Vice President of merchandising he traveled extensively all over the world for the company and also enjoyed traveling for pleasure. After retiring from Saks Fifth Ave with 30 years service he returned to Eden to open his own country store called Triangle Station that was in operation for over 23 years.  Mel was an avid animal lover, especially cats. 

Left to cherish his memory are his sisters, Nellie Long of Eden, Betty Young and husband, Courtney of Eden and Pat Harbour of Madison; niece, Suzanna Amos and husband, Wayne of Madison; nephews, Jay Young and wife, Julie of Greensboro and Jack Long and wife, Sharon of High Point and an extended family.
