Edna Hutson Mayes, 87, of Brookdale of Reidsville and formerly of Eden, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday evening.

A funeral service will be held at 2pm on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Draper Christian Church with interment to follow the service in Dan View Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6-8pm at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter, Judy, 684 Boyd Road in Reidsville.

Mrs. Mayes was born on June 23, 1930 in the Draper section of Eden to the late John Henry Hutson and Cora Dill Hutson.  She was of the Christian Faith and a member of Draper Christian Church.  Edna retired from the American Tobacco Company.  She enjoyed to share her poetry that she wrote. Edna will be greatly missed by all that knew her.

She is survived by her two daughters, Judy Mayes McCrickard and husband, Tim of Riedsville and Debra Mayes Barham and husband, William of Eden; grandchildren, Sabrina Chambers and husband, Tommy of Eden; Brandy Mullis and husband, Dale of Reidsville, Bill Barham, Jr. and wife, Marie of Eden, Robert “Simon” Barham of Eden, Angela M. Barham and Wade Craddock of Eden; great-grandchildren, Taylor Shields, Jacob Shields, Mason Chambers, William Barham, Jacob Barham, Breeanna Barham, Robert “Shawn” Azucena, Kyam Lampkin, Syere Azucena, Haley Sierra Azucena, Trinity Barham, Cameron Craddock and Kendall Craddock; and brother, Robert Hutson and wife, Teresa of Ruffin.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, William F. Mayes and one brother, Henry Hutson.
