Obituary For Opal Land Reece November 16, 1919 - September 30, 2013 Opal Land Reece, 93, passed away Monday, September 30, 2013 at Morehead Nursing Center. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, October 2, at Kings Highway Christian Church. Burial will follow in Overlook Cemetery. Mrs. Reece was born November 16, 1919 in Spray, NC, daughter of the late Oscar Walker and Verdie Ferguson Land. She was a charter member of Kings Highway Christian Church and was a retiree of the Eden City Schools where she worked for many years in the school cafeterias. She is survived by her daughter, Catherine Flake of Misenheimer, NC; five grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Reece, Sr.; three sons, William Reece, Thomas Reece, Jr. and Jerry Reece; and two granddaughters. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Wednesday (10 - 11 AM) at Kings Highway Christian Church.
