Obituary For Doris Culver Owen September 20, 1923 - August 2, 2013 Doris Culver Owen, age 89, of 1425 Delaware Ave. Eden, NC passed away early Friday morning August 2, 2013 at Big Elm Nursing Center in Kannapolis, NC. A funeral service will be held 2 pm Monday at First United Methodist Church of Draper with burial to follow at Ridgeview Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Owen was born September 20, 1923 in Washington DC to the late Grover and Mary Culver. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and was a homemaker who also was an accomplished seamtress and enjoyed making crafts. Surviving are daughters; Marie Alexander of Concord, NC; Mary Catherine Barnett of Gaithersburg, MD; Patricia Jane Howes and husband William of Bowie, MD; Jeannette Louise Watson and husband Ted of Fair Grove, MO; son, Joseph S. Owen, Jr. and wife Elaine of Queen Anne, MD.; 16 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death along with her parents by husband, Joseph Santford Owen, Sr.,a son, Robert Edward Owen and grandson, James Whit Alexander.
