I remember Mrs. Dessie from Osborne Baptist Church years ago. She would always make me feel welcome before I joined. Also, later on, I was playing piano with a gospel group and we would go to Bayberry and sing and she would always be there and help us sing. She was a special lady. She will be missed.

Wayne and family, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of Dessie. She was always so sweet and that precious smile. I met Dessie when she and your dad bought groceries from Daddy's store and that's where I met YOU!! I still have fond memories of the days when you worked for Daddy and I thought so much of you. Of course, you were a senior in high school and I think I was 5 YEARS OLD. Take care and so sorry to hear of your loss. Heaven truly received a great and lovely lady.

Wayne and All Family Members, Words are flooding my mind at this time. The last time I visited "Little Dessie", I called her "Des" and she said, who told you that my "Pap" called me by that name(?)I replied,"you told me that in 2000. She hugged me and asked me to always call her "Des". Jean Herring and I visited "Des" on a Saturday, played her favorite 2 songs, ONE DAY AT A TIME and THERE IS A RIVER along with many other Gospel songs. "Des" knew them all. I also have fond memories of my daily-morning (black) Coffee for 7 1/2 years while Managing Hidden Valley Apts. Also, her Red & White Mrs. Claus outfit at Christmas. Bill & Des were TWO SPECIAL People. Too many Memories to mention. Love and Blessings to you.

Mrs. Dessie and Bill are an important part of my sweet, sweet memories of Washburn Avenue, North Spray Christian Church and the pre-Eden Days of Spray. God's grace will see Wayne and the rest of the family through this time of loss. She is most certainly with her Lord today.
