Jack Carlyle Baker, 84, passed away on Wednesday morning, May 22, 2013, at Morehead Hospital. He had been a resident of Morehead Nursing Center since August, 2011.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 25, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Baker was a Rockingham County native and the son of Carl and Cassie (Craig) Baker. He was married to Lucille K. Baker for 65 years and left a legacy of love as he cared for her during her extended illness before both became residents of MNC. Mr. Baker had been employed by Fieldcrest Mills for many years before retiring at age 62. He was a loving family man who enjoyed gardening and cooking for family and friends and had a passion for ‚àö¬¢‚Äö?ᬮ‚âà?¨hot rod cars‚àö¬¢‚Äö?ᬮ¬¨??. He enjoyed his many friends who remained faithful during his illness and spoke highly of each one.

He is survived by his sister, Eunice Smith and husband, John III of Eden, NC, son, Stephen C. Baker and Cheri Holbert of Eden; daughter, Teresa (Baker) Knight and , Dean of Kernersville; beloved grandchildren, Keisha Baker Snodderly and Tom of Buford, GA, Brittany Baker, Shelley Baker and their mother, Cindy Miller Baker of Wilmington, NC, Patrick Winn of Bangkok, Thailand and John Winn of Kernersville, NC. In addition, he leaves behind great-grandchildren, Sophie and Noah Snodderly and Ella Finley.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by brothers Everette Ferris and Ray Ferris.

The family would like to thank Morehead Nursing Center for the tremendous love and care shown to Mr. Baker during his stay there. The North Hall staff will be forever cherished in our hearts forever. In addition, the family appreciates the loving care shown to their father by his deceased wife‚àö¬¢‚Äö?ᬮ‚Äö?묢s sisters and brothers. The encouragement and love given freely is testament to this family‚àö¬¢‚Äö?ᬮ‚Äö?묢s love for one another.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to Saturday‚àö¬¢‚Äö?ᬮ‚Äö?묢s service at 10:00 am at Fair Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Rockingham County, PO Box 281, Wentworth, NC 27375

AHh, Jack Jack what do I say!? I miss you!! Being back at work and knowing your not coming back is terrible. But I am so glad you have found peace. Teresa and Steve you guys are on my mind and in my prayers. I've grown to love you guys as I did Jack. I hope to still see you guys around here some. Thanks for all your kindness.
